I prefer to think of my images as 'Digital Paintings' because they are not prints from an original, they are the original. Painting is where I started from, and even though I now work on a computer, painting is what I still do. The tools may have changed, but the subject matter and the approach have remained consistent.
Using a computer has freed me from the rigid scientific geometric method I applied to my earlier work and allowed me to become more intuitive and fluid in approach. I've also found that the electronic nature of the medium has become integral to the work in the same way that brush strokes and canvas are an essential part of a painting.
Gallery one contains images which best convey the notion of a digital painting. They are large pieces intended for print in high permanence archiva inks on canvas and range in size from 84 x 60cm up to 172 x 119cm.
Gallery two contains a selection of Fluid Geometry images. Sizes range from 21 x 30cm to 84 x 60cm and produced as digital photographic prints, or archiva prints on textured paper, gloss paper or canvas.
Gallery three contains Ghost Machines and Dark Projections. Because of the saturated quality of these images, they work best as digital photographic prints. Sizes as gallery two.
The images in gallery four are Sketch Projections. The sizes are up to 42 x 30cm produced as archiva prints on textured paper.
Cyber Fauve images are now in gallery five. These are a combination of Fluid Geometry and enhanced photographs. Digital photographic prints up to 42 x 30cm with occasional larger exceptions.
Gallery six is for the latest images as and when they appear. |
